‘Supplier Spotlight’ is a brand new feature where we introduce and interview other fabulous suppliers within the wedding and events industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for clients and readers alike to discover new suppliers and learn a whole lot more about them, perfect!
Today’s Supplier Spotlight features by CeCe run by Chloe & Caitriona, a small business specialising in vintage and rustic hire & co-ordination.
Hi Chloe from by cece! Thanks for taking part in our ‘Supplier Spotlight’, how did you get into the industry?
Hi Nicola, thanks for asking us to appear on your supplier spotlight. Caitriona and I have been best friends for very many years and got into the industry kind of by accident. I got married in 2010 and Caitriona in 2012 and each time we used our weddings as our creative outlets and passion for all that is vintage and rustic.
I spent most of 2009 sourcing all the fabric to make hundreds of metres of bunting, scouring vintage china from car boots and charity shops, making blackboards, picking blackberries for jam favours which was all amazing fun but by the wedding my husband and I were exhausted! When I warned Caitriona about not doing so much for her wedding, did she listen? Did she heck! Caitriona was making hessian runners, carving logs into name holders, sourcing lace to create beautiful swagging, turning tatty old
picture frames into a photo booth of beauty and so much more! Was she tired by the time her wedding day came? Yes! Did her venue look beautiful? YES!!
Following our weddings we had accumulated so many beautiful things that we couldn’t bear to part with. This is when friends started asking for our help and decorations. This led us to thinking, wouldn’t it be lovely if we could give couples the gift of their own wedding day, they tell us how they imagine their big day to look and we source/style and hire all the items to save them from all the hard work. We wanted everyone we helped to feel like a guest at their own big day and that’s when by CeCe was born.
Where did your love of vintage and rustic items start?
Our love of vintage and rustic has always been in our own bones, I think some people are just born with the hankering for the style, simplicity and innocence of time gone by. Cat and I complement each other’s taste beautifully, I love the kitsch vintage style and Caitriona is more about the timeless rustic glamour, put it this way, I love a country scene emblazoned on a tea cup whereas Cat is all about the gilt edging!
Tell us more about Bycece and the services you offer…
We’re based on the Oxfordshire and Berkshire borders and hire vintage and rustic wedding decoration and props to full event styling and management.
What is your best seller or most popular product/service?
This year our wooden log centrepieces are proving really popular. The other most popular items to hire are our hessian table runners. Oh, and then our blackboards and trunk! Our bunting and china has been really popular with hen parties and birthday parties.
What does an average day at Bycece entail?
Coffee….lots of coffee! Then there’s replying to email enquiries, boxing up hires ready for delivery/collection, creating mood boards for prospective clients, checking Pinterest and instagram to see what’s popular in the wedding community. Or we might be creating new seating plans, or in our local antiques shop on the hunt for items our couples don’t have the time to find.
Has there been an event you have styled that particularly stands out as your favourite?
Last year we helped styled a marquee wedding. There were converse wearing page boys, food trucks, instagram hashtags, a photobooth; it was like something out of a pinterest board. We helped style their day
and supplied props and decorations and a piece d’ resistance a bespoke tissue paper pom pom ceiling installation, which was so striking. It is always really interesting to see what people do with our decorations to make their day their own and this was one of those wedding days.
What are your future plans for Bycece?
Our future plans are to continue to grow the business, being the go to company for couples who wish to make their day that bit extra special and more personal. The vintage and rustic style is style incredibly popular with couples who wish to give their wedding that timeless and relaxed vibe and we hope we can help couples achieve this a little easier than when we did it for ourselves!
